CBS is using one of the most powerful forces in entertainment — NFL football — to help launch its winter TV schedule, holding the returns of its biggest shows until after the network airs the AFC Championship game on Sunday, Jan. 26. Expect a LOT of commercials for CBS shows during the broadcast, especially ones for the new series Watson, which premieres immediately following the game.

Watson stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson — yes, the same Watson who palled around with Sherlock Holmes in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous novels. In this reimagining, Watson has opened up a clinic for rare and unusual diseases in Pittsburgh following the death of Holmes, but must also do battle with Moriarty. Though it comes from the same team as the Sherlock Holmes reimagining Elementary, which ran on CBS from 2012 to 2019, Watson is not connected to it. Watson returns for its second episode on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 9/8c in its regular time slot.

In the week following the AFC Championship game, NCISGhosts, Matlock, Tracker, FBI and its spin-offs, and more return. Other notable premieres include Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney on Jan. 31, Season 48 of Survivor on Feb. 26, and Season 37 of The Amazing Race on March 5.
