Candace Cameron Bure does double duty with a pair of new holiday films
[Update, Oct. 31: Great American Family has shuffled around its schedule and renamed some of its movies. Please find the updated schedule below!]
Don't be a Scrooge! Great American Family, the faith-based cable network, is ringing in the Christmas cheer with a festive lineup of 16 original family-driven holiday movies. (For the record, that's down from 20 in 2023.) "Great American Christmas," its annual programming event, began Saturday, Oct. 12 — one day after Hallmark kicks off its monster holiday schedule — and will premiere new movies every weekend through Sunday, Dec. 22.
Candace Cameron Bure will pull double duty this year, headlining two new films: A Christmas Less Traveled with Eric Johnson (Nov. 16) and Home Sweet Christmas with Cameron Mathison (Dec. 1). Other top stars you can expect to see across the slate include Danica McKellar, Jill Wagner, Jen Lilley, Merritt Patterson, Trevor Donovan, and Gladys Knight, as well as married couples Mario and Courtney Lopez, and Carlos and Alexa PenaVega.
Great American Family is also offering a robust collection of library titles and acquisitions of past holiday favorites, such as 2013's Let It Snow (interestingly enough, a Hallmark original)starring Bure and Alan Thicke, and 2019's When Hope Calls Christmas. Nearly two dozen movies will be available to stream over the course of the holidays on Great American Family's subscription streaming service, Pure Flix, starting Thursday, Oct. 17.
So pour yourself a cup of peppermint tea, cozy up by the fireplace, and scroll down to see which of the 16 new "Great American Christmas" movies, complete with casts and official loglines, will get you in a merry mood.
