New Amazon Prime Video and Freevee Shows and Movies in September 2024

When you have a show that you spent a boatload of cash on, there isn't much room for anything else. With The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power back for its second season starting Aug. 29 (with new episodes being released each Thursday), Amazon Prime Video is having a very chill September otherwise, with only a few new releases of note. Gotta get those Lord of the Rings streaming numbers up any way you can!

It is quite literally the end of the road for The Grand Tour, the bonkers car enthusiast series that is essentially the follow-up to the legendary Top Gear, with hosts and pals James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond taking their final drive together. This edition, The Grand Tour: One for the Road, sees the trio churning up dust in Zimbabwe. For something more dramatic, A Very Royal Scandal, detailing Prince Andrew's catastrophic interview with BBC news host Emily Maitlis regarding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, airs toward the end of the month. Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson star.

The Money Game (Sept. 6)

The world of college sports changed with the recent implementation of NIL (name, image, and likeness) rights, allowing college athletes to finally make money from sponsors while they are in school. Shaquille O'Neal's six-part docuseries looks at the impact of the new ruling on some of LSU's biggest athletes, including gymnast Olivia Dunne, basketball player Angel Reese, and football star Jayden Daniels. [Trailer]

The Grand Tour: One for the Road (Sept. 13)

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May set out for their final Grand Tour adventure after 22 years of doing what we all wish we could: driving expensive and odd cars and doing stupid stunts in locations all over the world. The final drive takes the trio — who got their start together on the incredibly popular series Top Gear — to Zimbabwe, where they get behind the wheels of a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag. A Very Royal Scandal (Sept. 19)

If you watched Scoop, the Netflix film based on the infamous 2019 BBC interview of Prince Andrew by Emily Maitlis regarding his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, and thought, "I'd like a show about that, please," then good news! Prime Video's A Very Royal Scandal, from the same team that delivered A Very British Scandal and A Very English Scandal, is coming. This time, Maitlis is played by Ruth Wilson and Prince Andrew is played by Michael Sheen.
